Hawai'i epitomizes diversity, a unique culture & lifestyle, and a continually growing tourism economy. There is no better stimulating environment for a global summit on international tourism trends, strategic alliances and emerging opportunities. The Hawai'i Tourism Authority asked us to craft a dynamic new format to attract a broad range of stakeholders from around the world to an entirely reimagined type of global summit. The 2016 Hawai'i Tourism Conference brought together over 2,000 global thought leaders, visionaries, suppliers, operators, policy makers and the media in an innovative format of networking and sharing.
The week-long gathering on best practices and policy was attended by delegates from 14 countries and included five offsite tours across Hawai'i's islands, eight global summits, and over 80 workshops and town hall breakouts. Our goal was for attendees to leave the conference feeling inspired, informed and better connected across continents as key stakeholders in a rapidly evolving global travel marketplace. We effectively set a new benchmark for what a tourism conference can be and new ways to collaborate on game changing ideas and best practices. The Hawai'i summit now lives on annually, building on the framework we developed, and Mission continues to offer its destination expertise through its Reimagine Tourism programming and resources.
